My paternal great grandfather was James McFarlane. There is not a lot known about him, how he lived, or where and when he died. My grandfather said he “followed the line”. He was a railroad man and helped build the railroad lines across Jamaica in the late 19th & early 20th centuries.

My blog is a documentation of my journey in researching the life of James and other ancestors, documenting my family lineage along the way.

In Search of James is also a metaphor representing my ongoing journey to knowing my Self. In my writings James will serve as my inspiration, my interpreter, or my Muse.
